Our Values

Our values are the priorities that shape the way Encounter functions.

Prayer & Worship

At different times in church history, worship has been presented as an offering or something we must do. Right now we believe the Holy Spirit is restoring God’s design for worship. King David, who penned many of the beautiful Psalms in Scripture, wrote, “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you” (Psalm 63:3). This is the very heart of worship. As we grow in our revelation of who God is, we cannot help but worship Him! The more we see His beauty, the more we overflow with worship!

And just like worship, we believe God is reviving prayer.   There are so many different examples of prayer in the Bible. In its most basic sense, prayer is fellowship or communion with God. We believe Scripture points to a lifestyle of fellowshipping with God, knowing His voice, and enjoying His Presence. And we believe our identity as children of God is to co-labor in partnership with our Heavenly Father. We work with Him to see His plans manifested on the earth, or to put it simply, “on earth as it is in heaven.”

Family

We are not made to do life alone. We believe Scripture teaches that we are designed to thrive in the midst of purpose and healthy relationships with people who want the best for us.  We value authentic relationships that lead to growth. We value helping each other become better in every part of our lives.  And we value fun!  We believe families are made to have fun!

Activation

We value equipping our church family and visitors in their identity as a son or daughter of God, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and in their individual strengths and gifts.

Activation consists of the empowering and sending of believers into the Jesus-lifestyle of enjoying relationship with the Father and bringing heaven to the world around us.

Power

Everywhere Jesus went, He healed the sick and did wonderful miracles to demonstrate the nature and Kingdom of God. His mission is our mission. Wherever the people of Jesus are, there should be a manifestation of power that testifies to who He is.

Signs, wonders, healings, and miracles have not always been prioritized in church culture. Therefore, we believe we must be intentional to pursue a powerful, Biblical, Jesus-lifestyle. Without losing emphasis on the Word and growing in Godly character, we intentionally equip the body to operate in His power as a lifestyle.
